Oxford City Women cruised through to the next round of the County Cup this afternoon with a 12-2 win over East Oxford at Hinksey.
Four goals from Ellie White were backed up a brace from Faith Kingdon two from Lucy White plus an own goal and strikes from Anaya Gray, Emma Donohoe and Billie Bough-French as the Hoops continued their impressive start to the season.
“All credit to the players” joint Manager Chris Smith told us. "We learned the hard way in the FA Cup that cup football can be hard if you don't get the basics right but we worked hard, we were on the front foot straight away and that enabled us to play the game as we wanted to play it.
“East Oxford never let their heads drop and caused us problems but in the end we played very well and deserved to go through in tough conditions. It also speaks volumes for the attitude that the players were annoyed to concede two goals. Those are the standards we are setting, and something we can work on but in the end we have to be very pleased with the result.”
