Connor Walton To Step Down As Oxford City Women's Manager

April 25, 2025

City Women's Manager to leave at the end of the season to focus on academy pathway.

Oxford City can confirm that Women’s First Team Manager Connor Walton is to step down from his role at the end of the season, although he will continue to coach within the Velocity programme and be part of the club's ambitious plans to expand the women's game at the MGroup Stadium and across the city.

Connor has guided the team to a fourth place finish in the league and will bow out in style with two cup finals to end on, starting this Sunday when the Hoops take on Kidlington in the County Cup Final at Thame United.

He told us: “I will be proud to be in charge for the next two games.

"I have agonised over this decision because the team has been amazing all season and the club has hugely really exciting plans for women’s football which I will still be a part of as I will continue to work at Velocity where we are building a very clear pathway for female footballers from across Oxfordshire.

“Managing the team has taken up so much time and I need to take a breath and get the balance right between coaching and my family life.

"I will continue to help in any way I can and this way the club has the best possible chance of finding the next person to take women’s football forward at Oxford City.”

Aliyah Anthony who is Head of Women’s Football Development told us:

“Connor has been incredible and we are so fortunate to have him as part of our coaching set up at the club. At the same time we respect his decision and fully understand his reasons. Hopefully he can help the team add a trophy to their outstanding season.

“Now the search will begin for a new Manager. Connor has helped build very stable foundations and there are big plans to build on those.

"We wanted to give him the send off he deserves with the last two games but full details of the role and how to apply will be coming out very soon, along with an overview of where we want women's football at Oxford City to be, and how we plan to get there.”

Thank you Connor.
