City started very well pressurising the Worthing defence high up the pitched. The result of which caused a free-kick on the edge of the 18-yard box in the first few minutes of the game when Josh Parker was fouled just outside of the box.
However, Josh Ashby couldn’t find the target, striking it straight at Worthing keeper Harrison Male, who comfortably parried it away.
The Hoops had an early penalty claim too when Klaidi Lolos was brought down after a tangle of legs by Joel Colbran. However, referee Samuel Read was unmoved and Davide Rodari cleared away the danger for The Rebels.
Oxford City had their first clear chance, ten minutes into the game after Lewis Coyle whipped a cross into the box, but Josh Parker headed an effort just wide.
However, City eventually went ahead, with the first goal came just moments before half time.
Ashby's free-kick, just inside of Worthing’s half was clipped to the back post towards Canice Carroll. He headed it back to City defender Lewis Miccio his swivelled shot found the bottom right corner, to score his first goal for the Hoops.
Half time: Oxford City 1-0 Worthing
City continued where they left off too, as Parker curled an effort towards the bottom right corner, just moments after the restart. However, Male was able to parry it away.
Just after the hour mark, the Hoops were denied a second, but Parker was denied by the offside flag in a very tight call.
However, Parker did manage to grab his goal after he was awarded a penalty after Barker's shove in the back brought the striker down inside the box. The striker took it himself, and made no mistake from the spot, slotting his shot into the bottom cornet to make it 2-0 to Oxford City.
The Hoops continued to dominate possession in the last quarter of the match and added a third late on when the lively Zac McEachran made it 3-0 with 10 minutes to go.
A super counter-attack allowed Josh Ashby to find the midfielder on the edge of the box with a cut-back and he had all the time and space he needed to send a shot past Worthing keeper Male, from the edge of the box.
Another super win for Oxford City, who extend their unbeaten start to 2023 but more importantly, put daylight between themselves and this afternoon's play-off rivals.
Now, Ross Jenkins' side look ahead to Taunton Town away, next Tuesday.
