A Josh Parker brace either side of Canice Carrol’s first half header was enough to seal all three points despite Xander McBurnie’s second response for the visitors.
Ross Jenkins made several changes to the side following the Hoops’ midweek success in the Senior Cup with Ben Dudzinski and Canice Carroll returning as well as Parker and Lewis Coyle.
The win also sees City move up to fourth in the Vanarama National League South following another solid display.
The encounter between two sides at opposite ends of the table began in relatively cagey fashion in the opening five minutes before a Josh Ashby corner in the seventh minute was headed wide by Lewis Miccio.
The first big chance of the game came when Aaron Williams-Bushell’s low strike after good work from Josh Ashby was cleared off the line.
Lewis Coyle had the opportunity to open the scoring on the twenty-minute mark after Zac McEachran’s picked out the wing-back but Zac Oualah stood firm to deny City.
Oxford were once again denied by a goal line clearance before Parker eventually broke the deadlock with his first of the game.
Aaron Williams-Bushell got the better of Chris Francis on the right before firing across goal where Parker pounced clipping the ball past Oualah. Weymouth struggled to create clear-cut chances and the hosts were later rewarded again for their dominance.
Ashby’s corner looped in and was met by Carroll with a towering header at the far post doubling City’s lead just before half-time.
Half-Time: Oxford City 2-0 Weymouth
The second half got off to a slow start with captain Reece Fleet picking up a booking for a late challenge before Weymouth forward Bradley Ash was booked for a high boot against Carroll.
Parker went close to getting his second before the hour mark after Williams-Bushell continued to cause trouble on the right flank picking out the City striker in the centre of the box whose effort clipped the outside of the post.
However, Parker was later rewarded for his persistence after Ashby’s looping cross found the forward in the centre of the box before expertly heading in for his second of the game.
The Terras had not given up yet though as Xander McBurnie pulled one back for Bobby Wilkinson’s side after the midfielder pounced on the Ahkeem Rose’s rebounded effort.
Weymouth showed glimpses of a fightback as half-time substitute Matt Buse’s powerful effort from range was gathered by Dudzinski in the Oxford goal.
The Oxfordshire side saw out the remainder of the game relatively comfortably restricting their opposition to minimal chances.
Jenkins’ side face a trip to relegation-threatened Hungerford Town in their next outing and will be hoping to replicate the strong performance in this victory.
