RIP ERIC METCALFE

Oxford City Football Club • July 11, 2023

Oxford City FC is devastated to learn of the passing of former player and club legend, Eric Metcalfe.

Eric played his first match for the club in August 1965, scoring his first goal just a week later in the FA Cup against Maidenhead United at the Whitehouse Ground.

In total, Eric made an incredible 535 appearances for the club over an eleven-year spell, scoring 29 goals.

That achievement is still acknowledged today, as Eric sits third in the list of the club’s all-time appearances list.

To commemorate his service, Eric received a testimonial in 1976, a match against Oxford United at the Whitehouse Ground.

Away from football, Eric was also a much-loved teacher and everyone associated with Oxford City FC will miss him.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Eric’s family, friends and fans who share in grieving one of our all-time greats.

Rest in peace, Eric.
