It was a frustrating afternoon on Saturday after the defeat to Farnborough which also saw tonight's visitors, Braintree Town secure a win against Hampton & Richmond to leapfrog City into third.
However, Jenkins is under no illusion of the task at hand but maintains a firm belief in his side’s ability as they welcome The Iron to Oxford on Tuesday.
“They’ve gone one point ahead of us but it’s very tight” Jenkins said.
“I think the main thing is that we don’t address the table, we address the next game and we address our performance.
“I think we’ve got to be aware of Braintree obviously because they’re a good team, but I think we’re a very good team as well.”
Jenkins added, “When we’re on it and we’re positive with a front-foot mentality, passing it, getting our patterns going, playing from the back, playing beyond and finishing the attack, we’re some team.”
The Hoops boss expressed that Tuesday’s game has a specific focus on his side and stated a need for his side to regroup and “bounce back” against Braintree following the Farnborough setback.
“I think Tuesday’s more about us than Braintree” Jenkins said.
“I think we need to focus on ourselves, but it’ll be an interesting game. I like Braintree and I liked them at their place. It was a real battle, and it was a good, solid draw.
“I think the mentality is that we need to bounce back from this game. As I said it [Farnborough] was a very ugly game that was hard to watch at times.
“Hopefully the fans will stick with us this game and hopefully bounce back on Tuesday because I’m pretty sure the boys will want to put it right.”
