ROSS JENKINS ON IACIOFANO LOAN

The gaffer shares his thoughts on Joe Iaciofano's loan move.

Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins has said that Joe Iaciofano's loan-move will help the striker get 'some minutes under his belt' as City prepare for the end-of-season run-in.

A frustrating start to the campaign due to injuries has denied the fans' favourite a regular run of games in the first-team.

However, a loan-move away at Banbury United has been arranged so that the striker can get back to his best form in front of goal.

Furthermore, Ross Jenkins has insisted that Iaciofano is in his plans and that the move is best for all three parties.

Speaking to the club's website earlier, Jenkins said: "Joe has done really well for the club and I think injuries have set him back this year.

"He's not been able to find his form with a run of games in the team but that's down to injuries and not his ability.

"He's overcome those injuries now and we're really pleased for him but the main thing that he and the football club need is to get some games and goals under his belt.

"It's only a one-month loan, so hopefully he comes back in a really positive mind frame, in good shape and fully-fit after scoring a few goals and then finish the back end of the season with us.

"I think it's a positive move for the player and club."

"We know Andy Whing and they've (Banbury) have been doing really well with a young squad and I think Joe will fit in perfectly.

"It's a tougher league (Vanarama National League North) in terms of physicality, so hopefully he comes back with some different experience.

"He's definitely a player that we trust and want to have around us and involved with us but the lack of game time, sitting on the bench hasn't done him any favours fitness wise."
