Manager previews trip to the champions-elect.

Ross Jenkins has said that his side have to enjoy Tuesday’s trip to Chesterfield as his Oxford City side travel to Derbyshire to face the runaway Vanarama National League leaders.

The City manager said that it was a question of when and not 'if' the Spireites are crowned as champions.

Nevertheless, he wants to see his side build on Saturday’s encouraging 2-2 draw away at Rochdale, and admits that there’s ‘no pressure’ on his squad.

“We have to go an enjoy it.” He told www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk after Saturday’s draw at Rochdale.

“I think Chesterfield were very close last season and competed all season. This season, it’s [the league title] theirs.

“But, we’ve got no restraints, no fear and no pressure on us. We want to go there and play some really good football.

“We want to go and show everyone what we can do, because we did that earlier in the season.

“It’s important that we go there in good spirits because today [the 2-2 draw with Rochdale] was a good performance, we’ll take the positives.”

The relentless nature of the National League makes things difficult enough already.

However, City’s part-time model makes planning for such a quick turnaround of fixtures tougher than the professional sides in the division.

“There’s no training now for us [until the match with Chesterfield],” He admitted.

“We’ll turn it around as best as we can, get some messages into the group and prepare as best as possible to go and play Chesterfield.”
