Our U12's JPL team have jetted off to Japan this week to take part in the Tokyo Nations Cup, however, our OYFL U12's team have been no stranger to success either!
A phenomenal run in the OYFL this season has seen the Junior Hoops go undefeated in the league and pick up silverware, after fending off a number of academy sides (pictured right).
The Junior Hoops are currently one step away from playing 11 a-side next season but their Coach Barry Hayden believes that his side's success is due to his players' great attitude.
“We have had continued success, being undefeated for a number of seasons,” Hayden said.
“New and old players have blended brilliantly together, and we are a very welcoming group. We have fantastic players and parents alike.”
Hayden added, “We have been selected to represent Oxfordshire at the Aces National Tournament in Nottingham, for the third season in a row.
"This will be against some of the best teams in England. We have reached the semi-finals on the last two occasions, getting knocked out on penalties to eventual winners on both instances. So, we've got our fingers crossed for this year.
“Oxford City have a big influence on the team's success, at all levels. I champion the club at every opportunity and have bought coaches and players to every age group.”
“It's nice to see that boys regularly choose Oxford City over other academy teams in my age group,” Hayden said.
He added, “Training on the 3G pitch each week and being able to play in stadium on occasions, makes the boys feel connected to club.”
The team, and Hayden, now have their eye on further silverware, as they look to continue their development as they look to make the step-up to 11-a-side football next season.
“We are 3 wins away from an undefeated treble and have upcoming tour and some academy fixtures to look forward to,” Hayden stated.
He added, “We step up to 11 a-side next season and have already had positive results against A league teams from the year above.”
Well done to everyone involved with our U12's OYFL team!
Everyone at Oxford City FC is proud of your achievements this season.
