Ex-QPR man rejoins the club on permanent deal.

Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of full-back Aaron Drewe after .

The young defender is no stranger to Court Place Farm.

In 2021, Drewe became a firm fans' favourite with a string of impressive performances in the curtailed Vanarama National League South season whilst on loan from Queens Park Rangers.

After returning to Loftus Road, Drewe broke into the Hoops' senior team, and made his debut against Rotherham United in the FA Cup.

He became a regular for QPR in the back end of the 2022/23 season.

He went on to make thirteen appearances for QPR with most coming in the Championship. Now, he re-joins the club as Ross Jenkins' first signing after his arrival.

Following his arrival, he said: "I'm delighted to sign.

"It's been a strange summer, but when Ross gave me the call and asked me to come back here, it was something I couldn't turn down. It's nice to be back.

"It was good to see some of the boys again that I played with in my previous spell here four or five years ago. I'm fit and looking forward to Saturday."

City Manager Ross Jenkins added: "I'm delighted to bring Aaron back to the club.

"We've known him for a number of years after his previous spell with the club. We've kept tabs on him for a long time.

"He's had real success at QPR after breaking into the first team and playing regularly in the Championship. He had a couple of injuries but now he's back fit and he's a player I know very well.

"He knows the players, he's settled in really quickly and trained really well today. He'll be a great addition for us."

Drewe joined QPR at the age of eight, rising through the ranks at Loftus Road before making his debut in the FA Cup against Rotherham United.

He spent a brief spell on loan at Chelmsford City and made one appearance in the Essex Senior Cup, before he made a name for himself here at Court Place Farm in another loan spell.

A string of impressive performances in the 2020/21 season made him a firm favourite with the Oxford City supporters.

Aaron's goal line clearance in the club's FA Cup giant-killing of Northampton Town is still fondly remembered by Hoops supporters.

He spent another loan spell with Weymouth in the National League in the 2021/22 season before returning to West London where his career started to take off.

He worked his way into the QPR senior team and made his debut for the club in their FA Cup victory over Rotherham United as an extra-time substitute.

From there, he continued to impress first team Manager Gareth Ainsworth and towards the back end of the 2022/23 season became a regular fixture in the squad.

Welcome back to Oxford City, Aaron.
