Oxford City Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of versatile forward & Grenada international Alex McQueen.
McQueen, who left MLS 2 side Indy Eleven following the end of the US season, joins the club and adds both experience & versatility to Ross Jenkins’ squad.
Speaking to www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk after signing, McQueen said: “I’m delighted to be here.
“It’s a great platform to play at. I spoke to the gaffer, and he told me his plans for the club and how he wants to play.
“I’ve seen it and spoken to a few players that I know here, and I’m just excited to get going.”
Ross Jenkins added: “Alex brings National League experience, a voice to the group.
"His versatility is key, he spent some time away [outside of England], so he's ready to hit the ground running."
McQueen started his career in North London with Tottenham Hotspur and went on to sign a professional contract with Spurs before leaving in 2015 to join Carlisle United.
The winger went on to become an integral part of the Cumbrian’s squad in League Two, a particular highlight being a star performance against Liverpool in the Third Round of the League Cup. A performance that earned him a place in the team of the round.
He continued to ply his trade at Brunton Park until 2018, when he moved to Scandinavia to sign for Finnish side VPS.
However, he swiftly moved back to England in 2018 and spent two years with Dagenham & Redbridge in the National League, before joining Barnet in 2020.
A versatile right-sided player, McQueen has also racked up 14 appearances for Grenada internationally.
Welcome to Oxford City, Alex!
