Aliyah Anthony happy with Oxford City Ladies' progress

After Sunday's 3-1 victory over Swindon Town Ladies, Oxford City Women's Manager Aliyah Anthony is thrilled with the way the side are progressing ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Goals from Kiera Isaac, Cara Kerby & Steph Ferreira sealed an impressive first win of pre-season for the Hoops and Anthony is happy with much more than the scoreline.

"It's been a great start to pre-season." Anthony told us after Sunday's win.

"The girls had a great run out [against Swindon] and worked really hard. Their work ethic was fantastic, it was a hot day and they really showed me what they're going to be about this season."

"Training has been fantastic. The girls are taking in all of the information and it's already started to show in the quality of the sessions. That's obviously shown with our result on Sunday too.

"There's some specific tactics we've gone through which has already been transferred into an actual game which is really pleasing."

The Women's season starts in September and although the league fixtures haven't been released yet, the pre-season schedule is looking challenging.

MK Dons U23's visit the Velocity Stadium in August and ties with some local sides have also been arranged and Aliyah is happy with the testing schedule.

"We've got some more difficult teams to come up against. MK Dons will be a really tough game, as well as Barton & Kidlington so we have some challenging games in the pipeline to get some minutes in the legs and try to improve on Sunday's performance.

"There's still some things we need to work on but it's been a fantastic start."
