Oxford City Women’s winger Amelia Alves Martins has said that the Hoops are looking to continue their momentum as they prepare to face Bournemouth Sports in the Southern Regional Women’s League.
City secured their place in the Oxfordshire Women’s Cup Final last Sunday, and the mood in the camp is as good as it’s ever been.
Nevertheless, Alves-Martins has called on her teammates to continue their good form against tough opponents.
“We're definitely feeling confident and motivated after last Sunday,” she told www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk
“We’re ready to bring the same energy into the upcoming match against Bournemouth. We need to take advantage of this positive momentum.
“Winning the final is also on our radar but we take it one step at the time, starting with the upcoming league match.
“We approach each game with the same intensity and the same dedication which it’s paying off with a 3rd place in the league so far.
“Bournemouth is always a challenging opponent, but we have faced them earlier in the season and we’ve learned valuable lessons since then.
“We have trained hard this last few months and we have the ambition to secure a win at home.”
The team are going from strength to strength under Manager Connor Walton, and a big part of that is down to the camaraderie between the players.
Furthermore, that’s something that makes all the difference according to the winger.
“Playing for Oxford City is truly special because of the close bond within the team, the coaches and the entire OCFC staff.
“It’s incredible how much it makes a difference.
“There’s this genuine sense of community, that creates a positive atmosphere, making it enjoyable both on and off the pitch and is the reason behind my continued commitment for playing season after season for this club.”
