Andy Sinnott appointed as new Oxford City FC Chairman

May 22, 2024

Oxford City are proud to announce the appointment of Andy Sinnott as the club’s new Chairman.

Andy is respected across Oxfordshire football having spent decades either coaching, managing or helping clubs including Kidlington, Carterton Town, Thame United,  Brackley Town, Didcot Town and Banbury United.

Formerly Manager here at Oxford City, Andy has coached Oxford County U16s for well over 20 seasons as well as coaching thousands of young footballers on the Velocity programmes at Court Place Farm.

He becomes Chairman following the sad passing of Brian Cox and Andy told us:

“Brian gave so much to this football club and I am honoured to be asked to step up and try to continue the tremendous work that he did.

“The football club is in very safe hands with Justin Merritt as owner and we are ambitious to keep the same core values that he and Brian have always believed in: a successful, welcoming football club that sits right at the heart of the city of Oxford.

"To be asked to become Chairman is a very proud moment for me, personally, and I am determined to repay the faith that the Board have shown in me by doing all I can to help the club continue on their upwards journey.”

Justin Merritt welcomed Andy, saying:

“Andy’s integrity, work ethic and knowledge of the game made him the outstanding  candidate to succeed Brian and we are thrilled that he has agreed to become Chairman. He has the respect not just of everyone here at Oxford City but also the whole of Oxfordshire football.

“Andy knows what we are looking to build in terms of the men’s teams, the women’s teams but also as a football club and it is wonderful for us to be able to draw on his experience to help make all of those plans become reality.”
