Oxford City are delighted to welcome ARCh Assisted Reading for Children as our Charity Partner for April.
ARCh is an award-winning Oxfordshire charity that supports children across the county with reading, confidence and well-being. ARCh supports children in over 100 schools across Oxfordshire with over 200 volunteers currently supporting more than 600 children every week
ARCh has set itself an ambitious target of recruiting 150 new volunteers to give extra support to children in the aftermath of COVID and Oxford City are proud to be offering support to try and raise awareness throughout the month with players and staff helping out and ARCh as our special guests on Easter Monday when we welcome Hereford to the MGroup Stadium in National League North.
ARCh provides children with 30 minute 1:1 reading sessions where they can read books, explore stories and play games with an adult in "happy half hour" that hopefully inspires a life-long love of reading!
Jane Rendle, CEO at ARCh told us
"We are so grateful to Oxford City Football Club for their support of ARCh. Working in the local community is at the heart of what we do here at ARCh and we know that OCFC does so much to support children in and around Oxfordshire. We hope that through this partnership we can combine the power of sport and reading to inspire and empower young people both on and off the pitch!"
ARCh are looking for volunteers to join them and give a little time each week to go into a local primary school to support children. Would YOU like to help? They have opportunities for people both who have time during the week and those who are in full time work.
