Oxford City Women’s midfielder Billie Bough-French has said that Sunday’s top of the table clash in the SRWFL away at Ascot United is ‘just another game’.
The versatile midfielder returned to action last Sunday after a spell on the sidelines and marked her return to the team with a goal.
Now, ahead of a 1st vs.2nd game in the Southern Regional Women’s Football League, the midfielder is looking to continue the Hoops’ solid start.
“It was great to be back home and to get 90 minutes, it was even nicer to get a win on top of that.” She said.
“I thought the way we played football was so positive, which is a testament to the training and the team quality
“Ascot are just another team like us, without doubt they will have the same goals as us, but we won't change how we prepare, it's another game in a tough league.
“Mentality-wise we are strong and positive, so we’re very excited to get to Sunday and hopefully pick up three points on the road.”
Attendances at Oxford City Women’s first team fixtures have spiked this season, and thanks to the hard work from people behind the scenes, the Hoops have seen hundreds of fans attend matches this season.
The increased support is something that Bough-French says can only help the team.
“I think the work behind the scenes with the staff, coaches and more importantly the volunteers (parents) has been amazing and something we need to highlight.
“The fans have helped us a lot, it gives us more confidence and more momentum within in the game when times are tough
“One thing that’s different this season is that we are actually bonding together and playing as a team, togetherness is good, changing room is together and atmosphere is building, we are linking up very well and as a newish squad, that doesn't always happen.
“The goal is to get promoted and that isn't going to change, neither should it.”
