Versatile defender joins on loan from Peterborough United.

Oxford City Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Charlie O’Connell on a season-long loan from EFL League One side Peterborough United.

A versatile player, who can play in a variety of positions across the defensive line and in midfield, O’Connell bolsters Ross Jenkins’ squad as we enter the last few matches of the season.

Starting as a member of West Ham United’s youth academy, O’Connell joined Peterborough United’s U18s in 2019.

He rose through the ranks with the Posh before eventually joining the club’s first team under Manager Darren Ferguson.

Throughout his time at Peterborough, the versatile defender has spent several loan spells in the National League with both Woking (twice) and Hampton & Richmond earlier this season.

Welcome to Oxford City, Charlie!
