CITY LEGENDS RETURN FOR MICKY LEWIS

Oxford City Football club have announced some of the legends that will return for Micky Lewis’s memorial match on October 10th

The ‘One for the road’ match takes places at the Kassam Stadium at 3pm in tribute to the much-missed legend of Oxfordshire sport.

Oxford City FC All Stars XI will play an Oxford United team from the 90s in the first half. Some current Oxford City FC first team players will also be in the squad. The second half will see players Micky coached at United around the 2010 season play the Oxford University side, who were coached by Micky for many years.


Scores of colleagues from Oxford City FC, Ignite Sport UK and Velocity Football will attend the match to pay their respects and honour Micky.


Micky worked for City, Ignite and Velocity for many years.

City will be managed by David Oldfield, Paul Lee and Justin Merritt.


 

Justin said: “Micky worked for Oxford City FC and Ignite Sport for many years in various roles and his contribution to City, Oxfordshire and football is vast. He coached thousands of youngsters and his passion was the same whether it was a first team match, or coaching children.


“His was an inspiration and the memorial match will be a very special occasion as we all honour Micky together. Micky was a wonderful coach, footballer, mentor, colleague and friend to so many people.”


All funds from the event will go to Micky’s family.
