Oxford City Women cruised through to the semi-final of the Chairman's Cup this afternoon with a convincing 7-0 win over Wimborne Town at the MGroup Stadium.
A hat-trick from Emma Donohoe, two goals from Ellie White, a Lucy White strike and a superb goal from Kitty Crouch earned The Hoops a fully-deserved place in the next round despite some spirited resistance from their lower league visitors
A City side who dominated throughout were ahead after just seven minutes when the excellent Donohoe sent in a deep corner that deceived the Wimborne keeper who could only get fingertips to the ball as it dropped in at the back post.
White then doubled the lead after 22 when she found space to run through the middle of the Wimborne defence and finish under the sprawling keeper to give City a two goal cushion which Donohoe further extended on 26 when she sprang forward from half way and hammered into the top right corner from 25 yards out.
White made it a race to a hat trick a minute later when she was given far too much space to fire home from the edge of the box to make it 4-0 as the visitors went with a bang but with a Wimborne.
Lucy White made it 5-0 after a scramble after a 68th minute corner and Crouch scored the goal of the game on 76 when she gave the keeper no chance from 25 yards out. All that we left was for Donohoe to win the hat-trick competition which she did by cutting inside and firing home off the underside of the bar to make it 7-0 in the last minute.
An excellent 90 minutes in front of a crowd of over 300 eager fans. Can't wait for the next round...
