Oxford City Women's Manager Connor Walton has expressed excitement as his side venture into the unknown facing Wimborne Town, a team they haven't faced this year. They host them at The MGroup Stadium on Sunday in the Chairman's Cup (2pm KO).
City are looking to build on the momentum from a dominant performance against Selsey on the weekend as they ran away with a 3-0 victory. Goals from Kaitlyn Crouch, Anna O'Leary and Ellie Walecki guaranteed a Hoops victory and extends their winning run to five.
Walton has been facing challenges of researching and studying an opposition of relative unknown but he says he has been handling it well, "We are relying on other people and utilising our contact to gain an understanding to develop a gameplan which will allow us to prepare in the best way we can."
The Hoops haven't many games left to navigate this season but are still looking to come away with silverware and make the most of the season. Walton said: "The girls are in high spirits. On Tuesday, training was really good, really high intensity and the girls are really understanding what we want from them.
"They want to push onto the end of the season, they want to make sure they win as many games as they can and progress as far as they can in the cups."
The Hoops' captain Georgina Tayman came off the bench after half an hour on the weekend and Walton is hopeful that her injury is slowly warring off. He said: "She made a massive impact and played really well. She trained on Tuesday and was able to handle some of the load that we asked of her so that's really positive.
"We are just hoping that the injury is disappearing because she is so important for us. We need her around the team, she is a very good leader, the girls trust her and she is someone you need, on the pitch or the sidelines just to get the girls going."
