Match Preview | Oxford City vs Wimborne Town

March 14, 2025

Look ahead to Sunday's Chairman's Cup Quarter Final.

Oxford City Women will be looking to keep their chase for a trophy going when they welcome Wimborne Town to the MGroup Stadium on Sunday in the quarter final of the Chairman’s Cup (2pm).

Connor Walton’s side have been in fine form all season and are third in the league as well as through to the final of the County Cup, but Sunday will be a fantastic test for his team, as Connor told us:

“We’re in good form and it’s going to be another good test. It’s always about developing and pushing yourselves and whether it’s the league or in a cup you want to do as well as possible.

“We had a good win at Selsey last weekend but although we will look to win all of our last three league games we are eight points behind Ascot who haven’t lost all season so we have to be realistic. We want to finish as high as we can but the players and staff have worked so hard all season and a bit of success in the Chairmans Cup would be a great reward for all that work.

“It won’t be easy at all. Wimborne had an excellent win to get through the last round and will come to Oxford determined to show what a good side they are, which should make for a really exciting game for the fans to enjoy”.

Kick off is at 2pm and it will be an emotional day for everyone involved with Oxford City Women as we support our Women’s First Team player Xiomara Wellington-Faissal and her family.

A percentage of all of the profits the club make on Sunday at the food hatch and bar will be donated to the Play For Pearl campaign. There will also be activation stations at the ground for supporters to help us raise as much money as possible.

We've made tickets for Sunday's game FREE, so we want as many peopleas possible coming to support the girls and this cause for one of our own.

Pearl (Xiomara's mother) has recently been diagnosed with incurable cancer and as she prepares to start treatment and step away from work, friends and family are stepping up to help.

Can’t make it on Sunday? You can still contribute to the GoFundMe page HERE

Funds raised will help with:

* Essential living costs while Pearl undergoes treatment

* Trust funds for the girls’ futures

* Funeral expenses to ensure Pearl receives the farewell she deserves

* Ongoing care for Pearl’s eldest daughter, who will require 24-hour support without Pearl

* Keeping Xiomara and Blue involved in the football they love

Pearl has always been there on the sidelines, cheering on her girls and supporting our footballing community. Now it’s our turn to show up for her and her daughters…
