JACK DAVIES | I COULDN'T TURN THE MOVE DOWN

Oxford City Media Team • January 12, 2023

After signing with City for the second time in his career, defender Jack Davies admitted that he couldn't turn the Hoops down when the opportunity arose.

The 20-year old defender re-joined the Hoops on loan from MK Dons until the end of the season but also spent last season with City before being recalled by the League One club.

Davies also spent the first half of this season with fellow Vanarama National League South side Concord Rangers but admitted, when the opportunity arose to return to the RAW Charging Stadium, he leapt at the opportunity.

"I'm really happy to be back." Davies said.

"When the opportunity came it was something i couldn’t turn down and I was really excited to get going again.

"Last season started great and I was playing regularly here and we were doing very well in the league. So, it was bittersweet when I was called back really, as even though it was a real positive for me, I missed out on playing games until the end of the season which was disappointing as i thought i was doing well at Oxford."

"I've always kept an eye on Oxford's results since I left the club and I've seen a bit of the new team this year. The group looks really strong and full of talent and we've added on top of the core of the group that were here with me last season.

"I definitely feel like we can beat anyone in the league on our day, hopefully we can keep pushing and grinding out points, who knows where we could end up?

Davies was handed a place in the starting eleven for his second debut for the club and picked up where he left off, impressing in his time on the pitch. However, even more impressive was the fact that the defender was returning from an illness, which brought his debut to an early end.

After helping secure a play-off spot last season, now Davies' hopes is to rack up the minutes for himself and carry on helping the team to more points.

"It was great to get the three points [against St Albans].

"Despite being ill in the build up to the game, I was desperate to play and help the team. My goal for the rest of the season is to play as many games as possible and help the team finish in the highest position that we can. Like I say, on our day we can beat anyone, so who knows where we can finish?"
