Academy graduate signs first senior contract.

Oxford City FC are delighted to announce that academy graduate Jayden Carbon has signed his first contract with the football club.

The winger scored on his senior debut for City back in October 2022 at Farnborough when on non-contract terms, before spending a season on loan at Thame United last season.

A product of the club’s Velocity Academy assistant, Jayden has impressed Sam Cox throughout the pre-season schedule to earn his first contract with the club.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been on the books at the club since the age of eight, and after spending time on loan with Step 4 side Thame United last season, will make the step up to National League North with the Hoops next season.

Sam Cox shakes hands with Jayden Carbon.

After signing his new deal with the club, Jayden said; “I’m really pleased to sign, I got all the paperwork done yesterday and I just can’t wait to get going.

“Having been here from a young age it makes signing here that extra bit special.”

Oxford City Manager Sam Cox added; “To see young players like Jayden who’s just signed his first contract with us has shown that he’s more than component enough in this kind of company.

“He’s really impressed throughout pre-season and he’s earned his place in the squad. I’m excited to work with him going forward.”

Jayden’s connection with Oxford City is a family-affair. His father, Josias, also represented the club in his playing days.

Jayden would often watch his dad play at Court Place Farm during his career, even appearing as the club’s mascot on occasions (pictured above).

He signed for Oxford City’s youth teams aged eight, before moving on to the academy system at Reading FC.

He moved back to Court Place Farm to join the Velocity Academy programme and flourished. His red-hot form caught the eye of former-City boss Ross Jenkins and he was soon in and around the first-team set-up.

He made his senior debut for the Hoops and started with a bang, scoring off the bench in a 2-1 defeat against Farnborough in National League South.

He played a part in the team that won promotion to the Naitonal League in 2022/23 before spending last season on loan with Thame United in step four.

He played a pivotal role in the Red Kite’s Oxfordshire Senior Cup winning campaign last season, scoring against City at the Semi-Final stage.

After a successful season at the ASM Stadium, Jayden returned to pre-season with Sam Cox’s new-look City side and has impressed from the get-go.

He scored in the club’s first pre-season test vs Barry Town United, and his goal in City’s final pre-season match vs Braintree stole the show.

Congratulations, Jayden.
