Rangers have already booked their place in Vanarama National League South next season whereas the Hoops are looking for three points in order to secure a home tie in the play-offs.
Oxford City
The Hoops travel to Canvey Island in high spirits after securing a play-off position and silverware in a matter of days.
In their last Vanarama National League South fixture, Joe Iaciofano calmly slotted home from the penalty spot, in injury time, to secure a 1-1 draw with Braintree Town. The vital point ensured a 2021/22 play-off position for City and the potential to reach step 5 of the English Football League pyramid.
Only four days later, Ross Jenkins’ side got their hands on the Oxfordshire Senior Cup for the third time in three seasons (not counting the curtailed seasons) after Iaciofano and Josh Ashby scored either side of halftime to seal a 2-1 victory against a youthful Oxford United side.
In squad news, Canice Carroll returned against the U’s on Tuesday and could be selected. However, the club are waiting to see the extent of Alfie Potter's knock.
Concord Rangers
The Beach Boys currently sit 15th in the VNLS and are void of any potential to reach the playoffs or fall into the relegation zone. A magnificent achievement for Chris Search's side.
Rangers' form has been hit and miss over their previous five outings in the VNLS, obtaining seven points from two wins, two defeats and a draw.
Rangers looked like an outside bet for the play-offs at the start of the season before a heavy 7-2 defeat against Dorking set them back. However, a 1-1 draw in their last outing against Slough Town has formed a case of finishing strongly as they look forward to next season.
Last time out
It was a six-goal thriller when the sides faced off earlier in the season. George Harmon opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in under two minutes before Aron Pollock tied things up twenty minutes later.
City took a foothold in the second half when Charlie Rowan and Josh Ashby both netted to increase the cushion. However, with ten minutes left, Jake Peck and Wyan Reid found the net in quick succession to take a point back to Essex.
