Match Preview: Oxford City vs Dulwich Hamlet

Oxford City vs Dulwich Hamlet match preview.

Oxford City return home this weekend to face Dulwich Hamlet who sit in the penultimate spot in the Vanarama National League South table. City come into this fixture off the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Dartford, whereas our opponents defeated the high-flying St Albans in a thrilling 4-3 match which put them up to 2nd. Both sides are looking to cement their places in the play-offs, but also make a surge for the top spot.

Team News

City played at Dartford making one change, with Harvey Bradbury replacing fellow striker Elliot Benyon. The striker thought he’d opened the scoring early on at Princes Park but for a goal-line clearance, and it will be up to David Oldfield as to who makes the starting 11 on Saturday afternoon.

Jack Davies was also retained following some solid performances the young loanee has put in at left-sided centre back this season. Davies has also played a role in the Hoops team that has kept 4 clean sheets in the last 5 fixtures.

Manager’s Thoughts

City boss, David Oldfield, will, as always, make sure that his side are prepared and in good stead to face Dulwich in what will be a huge test for his men on Saturday afternoon. The Hoops manager gave us his thoughts about this game;

“It literally is a really difficult game at this level every single time you go out to play.”

“Dulwich are a really good side as well.”

“We need to make sure that we’re preparing properly.”

“We’re very much looking forward to it and we will learn a lot and we’ll learn where we are in the big scheme of things.”

Star Player

Danny Mills

The big striker is expected to lead the line for the Hamlet when they make the trip to the Velocity Stadium and is also going to be a handful for the City defense. Standing at 6’4 tall, Mills produces an aerial threat, as well as a clinical striker in front of goal which has seen him notch 7 times in 12 games this season.

The 29 year old has spent 13 years at first team level of football, and across those years has amassed 390 games, and has found the net 129 times across all those fixtures. Mills is now in his 3rd season at Dulwich, and it is also his 9th season in the National League South, so he is no stranger to what the task is for him at the weekend.
