Following two successive cruel 90th minute defeats in the league, City will be looking at the FA Cup to get back to winning ways. Despite falling at the first hurdle last season, the Hoops have fond memories of the competition in recent years, making at least the first-round proper for four successive seasons between 2017 and 2020, including the stunning win over Northampton Town in 2020.
Salisbury have already had to navigate their way through one round this season with a 2-0 victory away at Poole Town - the second time in two weekends they made that trip with a league win the week before.
City have never met Salisbury in their current form, however if you go back to the 2010/11 season, the Hoops did face the old Salisbury City in the Southern League.
It was a 2-2 draw when the sides met in Oxfordshire, with Salisbury City winning 2-0 in Wiltshire.
After falling to defeat in two of their first three matches, Salisbury recovered to win their next four competitive matches. Wins over Yate Town and Swindon Supermarine then saw two successive away trips to Poole Town - firstly in the league and then the Cup.
Both of these saw wins, the latter of which seeing Salisbury through to the next round of the Cup, however their winning run ended in the week with a 2-1 defeat against Merthyr Town.
Despite three successive defeats, performances have still been good for the Hoops, particularly in their last match against Chelmsford City.
However, Ross Jenkins's men will keep confidence from their run of four wins without conceding a goal just a few weeks ago as they try to return to winning ways in the FA Cup, for which the Hoops have had a good history in during recent years.
During his short time at Oxford City, Darren Mullings still became a popular figure with the supporters during the 2013/14 Conference North season. He was a key part of the side that secured the great escape from relegation, including a spell of three wins in just eight days to all but secure their status for another season. His one and only City goal came in his penultimate game as a stunning goal put the Hoops 1-0 up against Brackley Town. He finished his City career against Bradford Park Avenue, with a very young Zac McEachran on the scoresheet for City that day.
A few years earlier, and Dan Fitchett would also become a City player, albeit on a short-term loan from Wycombe Wanderers. At 20 years old, the striker joined the Hoops for just one month and played three matches before moving back to his parent club, and ultimately for a first spell at Salisbury.
