MATCH REPORT: Abingdon Town Ladies 3-1 Oxford City Women

Despite an encouraging performance, Oxford City Women fell to a 3-1 defeat to Abingdon Town in their Southern Regional Women's League opener.

Manager Aliyah Anthony handed Kiera Isaac her first start as an Oxford City player alongside Becci Bostock, Liv Day, Steph Ferreira. A number of Velocity Football players also featured in the game.


The Hoops went behind in the tenth minute. A corner was floated into the box and Town's Chloe Ball opened the scoring.


Four minutes later, Abingdon doubled their lead, Tori St Clair scoring her first of the season.

City reacted after the interval and just after the hour mark Kiera Isaac grabbed her first goal of the season. She capitalised on a counter-attack to smash a thunderous effort into the net.


However, despite the promising performance, Abingdon re-gained their two goal advantage from the penalty spot. Ball adding her second of the game from the spot kick. 


City will look to bounce back from the defeat on Sunday as Anthony's team play host to Winchester Flyers at the RAW Charging Stadium.
