Ross Jenkins made two enforced changes to his side. Charlie Rowan and Lewis Miccio started in place of Canice Carroll and Lewis Coyle who both served a suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.
It was a slow start to proceedings in the game but City should've taken the lead on fourteen minutes after a promising counter-attack. Zac McEachran set Klaidi Lolos through on goal (in a move that had started from City's own box) but the striker got the ball caught beneath his feet before shooting, allowing the Farnborough defence to recover.
The Hoops were made to pay for that lapse in concentration five minutes later. Hishan Kasimu latched onto a cross inside the area and drilled a shot beneath Dudzinski to give the hosts the lead.
Before City could find their rhythm they were hit with a sucker punch of a second goal for Kasimu and Boro. This time the striker capitalised on some space on the right wing before cutting into the box and curling a shot into the far corner from a tight angle. A great finish.
From then on in it would prove to be an uphill battle for City but Reece Fleet's powerful drive from 25-yards out forced Farnborough 'keeper Jack Turner to tip the effort behind for a corner. Even then the Hoops almost pulled one back when Josh Parker's flicked shot almost caught Turner out at his near post, but once again, he collected the effort.
Half-time: Farnborough 2-0 Oxford City
City came flying out of the traps after the interval in a bid to find a way back into the match but it was the hosts who nearly settled the contest ten minutes after the re-start. Ben Dudzinski tipped a long-range effort from Norville-Williams over the crossbar (and not for the first time in the afternoon).
However, the Hoops were given a lifeline when youngster Jayden Carbon scored his first goal for the Hoops on 77 minutes. A beautiful ball over the top of the defence from Fleet wasn't dealt with by the hosts, and the youngster capitalised on the chance by burying a shot into the net. Game on!
Despite finding a way back into the game, the hosts were defending well and almost found a pivotal third goal. Dudzinski produced a superb save after getting the faintest of fingertips onto Jordan Norville-Williams stinging shot, tipping the ball onto the crossbar. If it was an inch lower then it would've certainly been a third but instead the shot bounced to safety with the crossbar still shaking.
From then on in, the hosts were happy to see out the game and keep the ball in the corners of the pitch. A vital three points for them but City re-group on Tuesday night as the Hoops take on Hungerford in the final league game before the FA Cup First Round.
