Oxford City Women put in one of their best performances of the season to beat Bournemouth Sports 3-0 at the RAW Charging Stadium on Sunday.
City had chances in an evenly matched first half but took a crucial lead when Emily Harris celebrated her birthday by scoring the opener in the second minute of added time at the end of the first half.
They then doubled the lead through captain Georgina Tayman early in the second half and a third goal from Ellie White on 77 minutes made it a good afternoon’s work as Aliyah Anthony, Head of Women’s Football told us
“It was a fantastic performance from all of the players.
"Bournemouth had only lost once all season so it was a big test for us. But we are a good side too and the pleasing thing is to see the development – that's the first time we have beaten Bournemouth at this level and we deserved the points which keep us third in the table.
“It’s an exciting time for us- we have open sessions coming up for the youth sides and then trials for the women's side with an eye on next season so a great win like this just keeps the momentum going for us.”
