MATCH REPORT: Oxford City Women 8-0 Procision Oxford

November 21, 2022

Oxford City Women cruised through to the next round of the Oxfordshire FA Women's Cup with an 8-0 victory over Procision Oxford on Sunday.

Four goals from Steph Ferreira alongside two goals from Amelia Alves-Martins and Kiera Isaac secured a place in the next round for the Hoops. However, it could've been even more after Georgina Tayman missed a first-half penalty.

Despite the scoreline, the first fifteen minutes was a tightly fought affair but City eventually broke the deadlock when Jasmine Allen beat her marker to square for Ferreira who had the simplest of finishes to tap home.

The away side barely had any time to get over the goal before it was two. Striker Isaac catching out the Goalkeeper with an impressive back-heeled finish from inside the six-yard box on twenty minutes.

Procision were lucky that it wasn't 3-0 after the half hour mark after the lively Isaac was hacked down in the area and the referee pointed to the spot. However, Tayman's penalty came crashing off the bar to the relief of the away side.

City didn't have to wait long for the third though. Isaac grabbed her second of the game after rounding the 'keeper and poking the ball home on the line.

Half-Time: Oxford City 3-0 Procision Oxford

Straight after the interval, service was resumed. Ferreira added her second of the game, poking home a shot after the ball fell to her after a corner.

From then on in, the game was over as a contest but City didn't let that stop them from turning on the style. Alves-Martins got in on the act scoring arguably the best goal of the game, when the attacker picked up the ball from 25-yards out and arrowed a strike into the top corner to make it 5-0.

Furthermore, she wasn't content with just one wonder strike. Only a couple of minutes later she did the same again, this time turning quickly and releasing another thunderous effort into the net from range.

There was still time for City to add two more towards the end of the game. Ferreira completed her hat-trick with a neat finish after a quick counter-attack and even managed to grab a fourth at the death.

Tayman fed the attacker through on goal and she took the opportunity with both hands, smashing the ball past the 'keeper at the near post.

A comfortable win for City in the end and Aliyah Anthony's team will take heart from another positive performance.
