OxTrail24 closes with around £300,000 raised for Sobell House Hospice.

Oxford City were pleased to be invited to the official celebrations last night as Oxtrail24 came to a highly-successful end.

OxTrail 24 saw over 30 life-sized ox sculptures take over the streets of Oxford this summer to raise money for Sobell House Hospice.

City’s Ox, ‘Oxford Win The Cup’ was designed and painted by renowned artist David Cutts and was on display at Court Place Farm with a QR Code giving people following the trail a Family Ticket to watch the Hoops.

The Ox was then snapped up at auction and in total around £300,000 was raised for Sobell House

General Manager Chris Williams said

“It has been very humbling to be involved with such an amazing project. Sobell House is an incredible place and the staff have done an incredible job. “We’d also like to thank the anonymous buyer who bought “Oxford Win the Cup” at auction. We were told that Oxtrail brought over £1million into the Oxford economy and for our football club to play their part and to connect with so many fantastic businesses was brilliant.

“We are very proud to be working with Sobell House and our pledge to them now that Oxtrail 24 is ending is that we will continue to help and support them for many years to come.”

About Sobell House

Since 1976, Sobell House Hospice has provided compassionate care to adults with a life-limiting illness and supported their loved ones. At any given time, they care for around 500 people across Oxfordshire at home, on their inpatient unit, in the local hospitals, and through their Living Well service.

Their mission is to enrich the lives of their patients and those who love and care for them. That’s why their focus is on the here and now and making every moment matter. By providing patients with a better quality of life, Sobell House hope to give them more time making memories with loved ones, or doing what matters most to them.

Sobell House Hospice is jointly funded by the NHS and the Sobell House Hospice Charity. Every year, the Charity raises around £2 million to help fund the care we provide.
