Highly-rated full-back joins the Hoops.

Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of left-back Chi Ezennolim.

The highly-rated full-back links up with the squad after impressive spells in National League South with both Welling United & Maidstone United.

Last season, Ezennolim played a pivotal role in the Maidstone side that went on a stunning FA Cup run and became to lowest ranked team to reach the last 16 of the competition since 1978.

Prior to his spell at the Gallagher Stadium, Chi spent the previous two seasons at Welling United alongside City Manager Sam Cox, winning the Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year awards at Park View Road.

After signing his new deal, Chi told www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk : “I feel excited. I can’t wait to start.

“Oxford is a big community and playing here will be a great platform for me to express myself. I feel like it will be a great place for young players to come and develop.

“When I was with Coxy (Sam Cox) at Welling, it was like a breath of fresh air having a coach that really wants you to do well.

“Everyone says he’s one of the nice guys in football and when I met him, he was nothing but nice and just wanted me to improve. That was the main reason why I wanted to come to Oxford City.”

Oxford City Manager Sam Cox added: “I know Chi from my Welling United days.

“Chi is a fantastic talent and a fantastic human being. You’ll see that through the signings we make and the team we put out on the pitch, I need good people round me and Chi epitomises that.

“He wants to work hard and he wants to kick on in his career. He had a successful period at Maidstone last season especially in their FA Cup run.

“What I love about the boy is that he has a fantastic nature, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he delivers and how he kicks on during pre-season.”

Chi Ezennolim and Sam Cox shake hands

Ezennolim started his career in London with Millwall’s academy before leaving the New Den to join Welling United.

As previously mentioned, the following two years at Park View Road were extremely successful, as the full-back asserted himself as one of the division’s in the left-back position.

So, it came as no surprise when Maidstone United came calling for his signature. From there, Ezennolim played 27 times for the Stones in National League South, featuring in their famed FA Cup run.

Now, he'll link up with Sam Cox in OX3 for his first season in National League North.

Everyone at Oxford City FC wishes Chi the very best of luck ahead of his time with us.
