Oxford City travel to AFC Fylde on Non-League Day

Mar 23, 2024

This weekend marks the 10th year anniversary of Prostate Cancer UK working with Non-League Day.

This year, Vanarama National League, Vanarama National League South and North clubs hosting matches on the day will receive a limited edition matchday pennant marking the ten-year anniversary, showcasing their support for the leading men’s health charity and continuing a theme of activity on the annual day since 2014.

For the last decade the leading men’s health charity, Prostate Cancer UK, has worked side by side with the iconic annual football matchday experience, raising funds and awareness for and about the most common cancer in men.

In that time the charity has worked with the National League its sponsors Vanarama, as well as hundreds of clubs. They have reached hundreds of thousands of men as well as raising more than £250,000, attracting national media attention in the process. And this year will be no different.

Presenter and proud Hartlepool United supporter Jeff Stelling will be in attendance when his club visit Eastleigh in the National League, one of ten focus matches across the UK to mark the 10 years.

“Non-League Day has been a really important – and influential – campaign since 2010 and is something I always get behind.” Jeff Stelling MBE

Stelling, who has raised more than £1.7m for Prostate Cancer UK across 34 marathon Football Marches visiting several Non-League clubs along the way, said:

“While I was hugely disappointed with Hartlepool’s relegation last season, there are some bright spots, and being back in the National League means we are part of Non-League Day once more. Even more impressively, it’s against my local club Eastleigh, so the football fixture Gods have been smiling on me!

“For the last decade they have been proudly working alongside Prostate Cancer UK. It’s such a good partnership which allows a brilliant charity that means so much to me continue their lifesaving work across the football landscape.

“We all stand together in our quest to change the game for those men and their families who have seen their lives affected by this dreadful disease and Non-League Day is the perfect platform to do this. See you there.”

1 in 8 men will be affected with prostate cancer; the disease is curable if caught early, but early-stage prostate cancer often has no symptoms, so it is vital that men know their risk. Men are at higher risk if they are over 50, Black or have a father or brother who has had prostate cancer.
