Oxford City Women went of of the Adobe Women's FA Cup this afternoon as they lost 2-1 at home to Woodley. United.
Trailing to a Mollie Haines goal in the early stages, City hit back through Isobel Bradley but a goal in added time at the end of the first half from defender Charley Evans was enough to send the visitors through despite constant second half pressure from The Hoops.
The visitors went ahead after just six minutes when a fumbled cross allowed Haines to volley into the empty net but that sparked City into a sustained spell of pressure with skipper Ellie White forcing a good save from visiting keeper Jo Nowak-Allum
White then played a key part in the equaliser when she turned sharply on the edge of the box and squared for Bradley who drifted past a defender and fired past the keeper to seemingly level things at the break.
However City fell for the sucker punch in allowing Woodley to regain the lead before the interval when Evans ghosted in at the back post to nod home a deep free kick and give the visitors a 2-1 lead at the interval.
City laid siege to the Woodley goal after the break with a counter-attack the biggest danger and Woodley making a string of brave blocks to keep City out.
The closest they came was an Anaya Gray effort five minutes from time that was pushed away and cleared after a scramble, but there was to be no late drama and we can only congratulate Woodley and wish them well in the next round
