ROSS JENKINS | I WOULDN'T SWAP THEM FOR ANYONE IN THE LEAGUE.

Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins has praised his squad going into Saturday’s game against Concord Rangers exclaiming that he wouldn’t swap his players for any other in Vanarama National League South.

The Hoops travel to Canvey Island on Saturday to face a struggling Concord side on the back of an impressive draw away at Hampton & Richmond.

City ended the game last Saturday with ten men on the pitch after Andre Burley’s red card but Jenkins was impressed with the team’s ability to get stuck in and come away with a point and wants more of the same this weekend.

“We can take the result at Hampton into our game with Concord.” Said Jenkins.

“The main thing was that everyone stuck together and it showed a different side to our game that people would have questioned a few months ago.

“Concord will be something of a similar game, it’s a tough place to go. We had a good result against them earlier on in the season but they’ve had a change of manager and added a few new players so we’ve got to treat it as any other game.

“The group of boys in our changing room and the team we’ve assembled, I wouldn’t swap them for anyone in the league.

“We’ve got a great togetherness in the squad; we’ve got great ability, and good tactical awareness, strong players, and flair players so we have a good mix and blend.

“The only thing is when we play teams near the bottom of the table, sometimes going into a different environment with different conditions we sometimes start games slow. So, that’s something that we need to focus on, starting fast and taking the game to them.”

Earlier in the season, City thrashed Concord 5-0 at the RAW Charging Stadium in an impressive win. However, Jenkins says that it’ll be a completely different Concord side that show up on Saturday.

“It would’ve hurt the players that played during the reverse fixture last time. It would’ve hurt me losing and we’ve lost by that scoreline before and know the feeling, so they’ll want to put it right.

“They’ve got a new manager, new ideas and new tactics so they’ll be trying to implement those things early on and we’ll have to make sure that we don’t think about the last game we played and focus on the game and their new style.

“We’ll need to make sure the boys are really on it as I’m sure the players who were there at the last game will want to put it right. We can’t take anything for granted.”
