The Hoops rescued a point late on against Braintree Town in their last outing with Zac McEachran’s 95th minute equaliser earning a point in a 2-2 draw at the RAW Charging Stadium.
Following a promising result, Ross Jenkins’ men are set to travel to Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday with hopes of returning to the win column.
The Hertfordshire outfit currently sit 13th as opposed to City in fourth place in the VNLS, however, Jenkins is sure that Hemel will not be a pushover.
“They’ve had some good results” Jenkins said.
“A new manager has gone in with new ideas and shaken things up so, it’s going to be another battle.
"We normally have a good battle with Hemel as we’re used to their 3G pitch and it’s normally quite a good and high tempo game so we’re probably expecting the same thing.
“Following on from a tough battle Tuesday night, the boys will be fully rested and ready to go so I anticipate an entertaining game.”
Having bounced back with a battling performance against a tough Braintree side, Jenkins emphasised the significance of the mental aspect heading into Saturday’s fixture.
“Tactically I think the boys know exactly what to do and we’ve done it all season.
“I think the physical performance and the effort has to come first in any game and I thought against Farnborough we dropped off it and we weren’t there.
“When we played Braintree, I thought our level was upped again so I think the boys need to focus on turning up with the right mentality first and then the football will come out as it always does.”
Jenkins added, “It’s going to be a battle, but I think it’s a mental one as much as a physical battle and we need to go there with the right mentality that they’re on an up with a new manager, new ideas, new tactics, new players.
We’ve got to respect it but put in a big shift to try and get the three points.”
The Oxfordshire club have been one of the more difficult sides to beat this year showing the consistency in solid performances with the City boss acknowledging what has been a tough season.
“I can probably count on one hand how many off performances we’ve had, and I think at this part of the season that’s not bad going” Jenkins said.
“Some players do have off days sometimes but there’s three particular games this season where we haven’t been on it. I think if you look back from now to the start of the season I think you’d take three bad performances.
“Along the way, we’ve picked up a lot of points and been consistent in our play, our football and picking up points. We want to pick up more points and finish the season strong.
“It’s probably the tightest that I’ve seen the top of the league and the bottom for a long time since I’ve been here, so I think the most important thing is to pick up points and keep ticking the games off.”
