ROSS JENKINS PREVIEWS WOKING TRIP

The gaffer looks ahead to the weekend.

Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins has said that his side need to 'work their socks off', as the Hoops travel to Woking on Saturday in another crunch clash in the Vanarama National League.

City ran out as 3-2 winners in early November in the previous meeting between the two sides, but since then the Cardinals have changed their Manager and added a number of players to the squad.

Both teams have had a brief hiatus from league action after they were knocked out of the Isuzu FA Trophy Third Round, and Jenkins believes that the break has done his team the world of good.

"The break has allowed us a little bit of time to bring some bodies back." He said.

"This season, not having a full-fit strong at any one-time has damaged us. We've had a little bit of a stinker with injuries, but this week has been nice to do some training, re-focus on ourselves again, re-energise and bring the spirit back.

"Leading in to Woking, we've had a good victory over them earlier in the season, but with a new manager comes new players and different ideas.

"We have to make sure we prepare as best as possible.

"As soon as we get to Saturday, the previous win goes out of the window. We're facing a new team, with new ideas, and a new Manager. So, we have to address it properly, work our socks off and give everything.

"If you've got to bleed for the cause, you have to bleed for the cause and that's what we'll do."

Michael Doyle is the new man in the dugout for Woking. After Darren Sarll was relieved of his duties the Surrey side had an extensive search for a new manager in which Doyle stood out as the main candidate.

Doyle amassed 866 professional first team appearances during his playing career and holds the record for the fourth-highest appearances in English football history. Across numerous clubs and leagues, the Irishman accumulated 15-years of captaincy.

Furthermore, City boss Jenkins heaped praise on his counterpart, saying that his side will reflect the values he had as a leader.

"I knew him as a player, and I think we crossed paths at one point." Jenkins said.

"I actually went to watch him work when he was at Forest Green not too long ago, when he was assistant to Ian Birchnall.

"He'll know what hard-work means as he was an industrious midfielder. He's a leader and he put in a shift when he played, so he'll instill that mentality into his side as a Manager as well.

"I think he has some really good traits that I think are contagious for players. So he'll be setting up a good basis for Woking going forward, we'll know that.

"So hopefully we can catch them on an off day, we turn up on a good day, and we get something out of the game."
