Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins was full of praise for Saturday's opponents Hartlepool United ahead of the Hoops' tricky weekend tie.
The Pools have started the season well and will be looking for an instant return to the EFL under Manager John Askey. Askey himself knows his way out of the division after winning the National League title with Macclesfield Town in 2019.
Speaking to www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk, Jenkins said: ‘They’re going to be organised, fit, structured, well-drilled. They’ve got a great fan base, a good following.’
‘They’ve got a great mix of everything, youth, senior players, energy. We’ve got to pay attention to it but we’ve also got to pay attention to us as well and what we can do to hurt them.’
The Hoops have picked up three points from three home games this season, turning round defeats against Chesterfield and Rochdale with their 4-0 thumping of Boreham Wood on Bank Holiday Monday.
‘Our home form last season was pretty decent. We hope to continue that this year. A lot of clubs don’t particularly like playing on our pitch, but we don’t have a huge set of facilities. We try to make it uncomfortable for the opposition and play a certain brand of football.’
‘We know it’ll be difficult. We’ve been fortunate so far with injuries, but the boys are looking after themselves well and fitness levels have been really good.’
