ZAC MCEACHRAN | PRE-DOVER ATHLETIC

Ahead of their final three games of the season, Oxford City midfielder Zac McEachran has said that the Hoops are fully focused on a tricky trip to Dover Athletic in Vanarama National League South.

McEachran scored in Easter Monday’s win over fellow promotion hopefuls Chelmsford City, a win that helped keep the Hoops in third place as the play-off battle intensifies towards its conclusion.

As we approach the end of a dramatic campaign, the finish line is in sight and supporters from all clubs are starting to predict their likely outcomes and predicted tables.

However, McEachran realises that the script won’t be straight forward says that  he and the squad won’t be changing their mentality going into the final three games of the season.

“I think people from the outside may look at it as ‘three cup finals’ left, but I don’t think that’s the best way to look at it.” Said McEachran.

“Every game is important, yes, but you wouldn’t judge a season based on just three games or prepare for games any differently for a set amount of time.

“We’ve had a good season and we’ve got to where we are by focusing on each game as it comes and we’ll continue to do that.

“We’ve gone into every game wanting to win and given each 100% effort.

“Don’t get me wrong, we all know how big each win seems, especially at the end of the season. It’s as simple as ‘a win equals three points’ and it doesn’t change from the first game, they’re all as important as each other.

“We’ll go into our last three wanting nine points, but we’re fully focused on Dover first of all.”

Dover themselves have found their first season in VNLS tough. The Whites will have wanted to get out of the division at the first attempt, but a string of bad results have seen them drop to eighteenth in the league. Way off where they were tipped to finish at the start of the campaign.

The long journey is bound to take its toll on City, but McEachran is looking forward to another away trip.

“Dover will be tough, but we’re looking forward to it. The win on Monday gives us confidence, so we’ve just got to go there and do our thing.

“The mood amongst the lads is good so it just makes us more motivates to keep feeling that way and it’s wins that bring that positivity.

“Our last game away was disappointing so we’ll be looking to put that right on Saturday.”
