Didcot Town 2 Oxford City 5. Full time report

Oxford City’s pre-season stayed firmly on track with another emphatic win at Didcot Town this evening.

Goals from two trialists, Josh Parker, Zac McEachran and Brayden Daniel saw them win 5-1 at Loop Meadow as Sam Cox's team begin tp gather momentum.

After a 9-0 win over Barry Town in their first game City were again in fine form in front of goal and 2-0 up inside 18 minutes as they steamed past the rusty Railwaymen.

The opener came when one of seven trialists fired high into the roof of the net after McEachran’s effort had been parried, and then six minutes later Parker repeated the trick of scoring a second goal in two games when he slid home from close range after impressive midfielder Jayden Carbon had opened up the home defence to set up a trialist for the decisive pass..

The same trialist who crossed for the second then scored the goal of the match when he ran from half way, cut in from the right and drilled the ball into the far corner and the excellent McEachran then made it 4-0 at the break when he dropped a shoulder and curled home another fine goal from the edge of the box.

Thirteen goals in a game and a half, and 53 seconds into the second half there was another as Daniel slammed the ball home from close range to further derail the home side,

Credit to Didcot who came into the game more in the second half with a consolation goal to make it 5-1 and  a sitter missed two minutes later as they began to sense light at the end of an unlikely tunnel, but City always had them at arm's length and it was another good work out for Cox's exciting new-look side who are starting to form partnerships all over the park.

Again, our thanks to Didcot, excellent hosts, and we wish them well for the season. City move on to a home game against King's Langley on Saturday. It's 'Pay What You Like' again at Court Place Farm. See you there
