Oxford City Women kept their unbeaten start to the league season going with a superb 5-1 win over Selsey this afternoon at Court Place Farm.
Two goals from top scorer Kaitlyn Crouch two from Emma Donohoe and an Ellie White strike gave them an impressive win as they continue their chase for promotion.
City welcomed back captain Georgina Tayman and defender Billie Bough- French while Emily Harris returned to the squad for the first time after suspension.
They took the lead after 12 minutes when White finished a superb move by lobbing the keeper from a tight angle and when Donohoe curled a corner into the net to make it 2-0 soon after the break it looked like City would cruise to victory.
However they were forced to work heard when the visitors made it 2-1 a minute later before Donohoe restored the two goal cushion from a tight angle with twenty minutes to go and Crouch fired home two late goals to underline City's superiority
Coach Chris Smith told us
"After losing in the FA Cup last week we wanted a reaction and we certainly got that. The attitude was spot on and we could maybe have scored more goals but you can see the belief growing each week and this was another terrific performance."
