Ewan Clark: "I’m delighted to finally get off the mark."

Ewan Clark on his first goal for City and Tuesday's test against St Albans.

Ewan Clark scored his first senior goal for City at the weekend in the Hoops’ emphatic 5-0 victory over Tonbridge Angels at the Velocity Stadium. The youngster has featured regularly in recent weeks and has provided a bright spark from the right flank.

He first featured for City in the 2-2 draw against Slough on the 2nd of January, and since then Clark has only grown in confidence, and after scoring his first goal, that is something that will only keep growing.

“I’ve had quite a few chances recently, especially on Saturday, so I’m delighted to finally get off the mark.”

“It wasn’t the ideal first goal, but I’m happy to have got my first and hopefully it’s the start of many more to come.”

Clark came through the Velocity programme, playing in the National League U19 Alliance squad, before he progressed to the City U23 side. After excelling in both these teams, Clark then phased into the first team, and seems to have cemented his place in the squad.

“It was another start, and more great experience for me. I had positives to take from the game but also there were things that I need to work on, but it was a great opportunity to keep learning.”

The Hoops travel to Clarence Park on Tuesday night to face fellow playoff contenders St Albans City. Off the back of the victory at the weekend, there will be no doubt that the City players will not be short on confidence, and will be looking to extend their run of good form to 5 wins from the last 6.

“It’s going to be a tough game as they’re a good side. They’re up in the play-offs so it will be a test, just like every game.”

“It’s also another great opportunity for me to learn and to get more experience.”

“Everyone that comes in can do a real good job, so all the players are up for it and working their hardest in training.”

“Another win would be brilliant for us, the players but also huge for the club.”

We hope to see as many of you Hoops fans at Clarence Park as possible for the match against St Albans City.

C’mon you Hoops!
