George Harmon "I want to help the lads out as best as I can"

Ethan Gough • November 1, 2021

This weekend the Hoops extended their unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory over Tonbridge Angels.

George Harmon and Joe Iaciofano grabbed the goals for the Hoops on another successful outing for David Oldfield’s squad.

Iaciofano’s clever backheel also set-up Harmon for his third goal of the season - a thunderous effort into the far corner of the net.

After the game, George spoke to us about the win and how training is paying off for the team.

“Me and Joe work on that in training.”
Harmon said.

“I know when he goes inside, it’ll create the space out wide and I just had the easy job of putting it in the net.”

“It’s nice to get a goal and a clean sheet, and I just want to help the lads out as best as I can.”

“First-half it was a poor display from us, we weren’t at our best and I think it showed."

“But I think in the second half we turned it around. We got after the ball a lot more and we got some goals and a clean sheet again.”

“It’s a tough place to come to and to get three points but we managed to do that and move onto the next game.”

As the old football cliche goes, it was a tale of two halves. However, Harmon is under no illusions that the Hoops have to start matches a lot more quickly.

“We’ve got to work on what happened in the first half, we know that, we were nowhere near our best.”

“If on other days we do that and we won’t get the points.”

Oxford City now have a one week break before they get ready to go again and face top of the table Dartford at Princes Park. We look forward to seeing as many of you Hoops fans make the journey as possible.

C’mon you Hoops!
