Oxford City get straight back into the action on Tuesday night with a trip to the Meadowbank Stadium to face Dorking Wanderers fresh off the back of a dramatic late comeback against Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday afternoon.
The Hoops currently sit in 3rd place in VNLS, however the Wanderers are in pole position and are in red-hot form, so will be a huge test for Andy Ballard, Ross Jenkins and all the players. The Hoops will also be looking to avenge the 4-2 defeat to Dorking back in December.
Team News
Ballard & Jenkins have not been adverse to making changes since they’ve taken charge, and with a full squad available to the duo, we could see changes to the starting 11 once more. Josh Ashby returned to the pitch on Saturday, coming on as a second half substitute even managing to score a goal himself, so we could potentially see him start tomorrow evening.
Current Form
Oxford City - W W L L D
Dorking Wanderers - W W W W W
Head-2-Head
Oxford City 2-4 Dorking
Dorking 3-2 Oxford City
Oxford City 2-1 Dorking
Dorking 0-2 Oxford City
Ross Jenkins
Jenkins has overseen 2 victories in the last 2 games alongside Andy Ballard, and the pair will be wanting to extend this to 3.
However, Jenkins is under no illusions of the task ahead of the Hoops.
“It’s going to be tough. Every team in the league are tough to play against.” said Jenkins.
“We need to prepare properly, we need to recover and we go again. One thing we know we can’t do is get carried away against a very strong Dorking team.”
Star Player
Alfie Rutherford
Rutherford is no doubt one of, if not the most in-form players in the Vanarama National League South. The 23-year-old has netted a whopping 19 times, from 20 games which is a goal to game ratio any striker would be proud of.
The tally he's accumulated puts the striker joint top of the goal scoring charts for VNLS (tied on 19 goals with Shaun Jeffers (St Albans) and Ryan Seager (Hungerford)). Rutherford certainly wasn’t holding back when Dorking came to the Velocity Stadium in December, the number 10 scored a hat-trick, so the City defence know how much of a threat he is.
