Oxford City showed great fight and determination to come back from 1-0 down against Hungerford Town last weekend, to pull back an impressive 3-1 victory, continuing their unbeaten run this calendar year.
The Hoops now look ahead to their next Vanarama National League South fixture, at home to Welling United at the weekend. Oxford City signed 22-year-old goalkeeper, Adnan Kanuric, on loan from Nottingham Forrest, who made his debut last weekend against, Hungerford Town. The goalkeeper impressed on his debut, and will now seek his first clean in a City shirt. Defender Jack Davies is also available for selection after he served his one-match suspension for a red card received against Oxford United in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.
The last meeting between the two sides did not go as expected for The Hoops, as they suffered their worst defeat so far this season, losing 5-0 back in September. Welling's striker, Adebayo Azeez, scored a hat-trick for his club against ten-men City (after Charlie Rowan was sent off) with Stefan Payne adding the other two. The Hoops will hope to make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself this time around.
Welling United are currently winning on the head-to-head record between the two sides, having won 5 matches compared to City's 4 matches. There has also been 2 draws between the two sides back in 2021 and 2017.
The Hoops hope to level the head-to-head record at the weekend, to continue their unbeaten run.

City have been one of the best performing sides in the VNLS so far in 2023, picking up 14 points, out of a possible 18.
The Hoops are currently unbeaten in 2023 and are aiming to secure their place in the play offs for a second season in a row.
The Hoops have now won three games on the spin, but another victory would be a huge result for City who could move up to third place with a win.
The Bexley side are currently not in the best form having only 1 win, out of a possible five and taking away only five points from an available fifteen.
Striker Adebayo Azeez has scored three goals in the past five games, and will be looking to continue his excellent scoring form against The Hoops this weekend.
Azeez has currently scored 13 goals for Welling United this season and is searching for the golden boot at the end of the season. Despite sitting in fourteenth place in VNLS, fans shouldn't write off the Wing's promotion hopes being one of the only full-time teams in the division.
Ade Azeez has been a fundamental part of Welling's side and after scoring a hat-trick against Oxford City the last time the two teams met, he is one to watch.
Azeez joined Welling United in the summer of 2022 from rivals Dartford and (to no surprise for fans of NLS) has been performing incredibly for them. He is on route to being United’s top goal scorer this season, scoring thirteen goals so far this season, and boasts scoring against Celtic at Celtic Park during his time with Partick Thistle. Stopping Azeez will be key for City if they are to get anything from the game.
