MATCH REPORT: Oxford City 1-1 Ebbsfleet United
Olly Sanderson's second-half equaliser was enough for a point as Oxford City halted Ebbsfleet's perfect start to the season in a 1-1 draw at the RAW Charging Stadium.
The full-time outfit of Ebbsfleet had blown the competition out of the water coming into the game, winning their first nine matches in Vanarama National League South. However, a valiant performance from the Hoops has stopped their perfect run, despite Ross Jenkins' side wondering if they could've had all three points.
Rakish Bingham broke the deadlock after half an hour but Olly Sanderson’s strike shortly after half-time forced both sides to share the points.
Ebbsfleet thought they had taken the lead after just twelve minutes, when Dominic Poleon collected a threaded through ball, rounded Ben Dudzinski and tapped home into an empty net. However, before he could turn away in celebration, the linesman raised his flag for offside.
It was proving to be an even match up across the park with both both sides restricted to a number of half chances. Lolos’ snapshot on the edge of the box was blocked away from danger and Josh Parker’s long-range effort caused no trouble for the visitors.
The visitors started to find their rhythm and despite having a quiet first 25 minutes, Ben Dudzinski was called into action as Christian N’Guessan unleashed a strike from distance. Although, the City keeper matched his attempt with a superb low diving save to keep the scoreline level.
The Hoops began to find their feet in the match with strong spells of possession and forced the visitors to drop deep, much against their high pressing game plan.
However, the Fleet did well to counter and broke down the left through Gregory Cundle. He provided a pull back in the box for Rakish Bingham inside the six-yard box and the striker had the simplest of finishes to slot his shot into the bottom right corner and give United the lead heading into the break.

City weren't to be dismayed though and came flying out the blocks from the re-start and instantly put the visitors on the backfoot. In under a minute from the whistle Alfie Potter threaded a through ball into Olly Sanderson, who beat the offside trap and calmly planted his neat finish into the far corner and level the score.
Around the hour mark, the tide changed again in a what was proving to be a thoroughly entertaining affair. Cundle again finding Bingham for another first-time strike, but an incredible last-ditch block from Tom Harrison on the 6-yard line denied a certain goal.
With fifteen minutes left to play a pinpoint cross-field pass by Reece Fleet landed perfectly for Klaidi Lolos to have a crack at goal, only to watch his effort fall wide of the mark from inside the area. Agonisingly close to a winner for City!
At the other end of the pitch, Cundle again proved to be a thorn in City's side after he found himself open on the left, but his driven shot at forced a superb fingertip save from Dudzinski. The City number one tipping the effort round the post.
The RAW Charging stadium witnessed a tense final few minutes as both sides pushed to nick a late winner with no avail. The sides share the points as City stop the league leader’s perfect start to the season in what was a very tight affair.
