Winger Walsh arrives at Court Place Farm.

Oxford City Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of winger Louis Walsh.

The 24-year-old signs at Court Place Farm after a successful spell with Bedford Town last season.

Formerly of Nottingham Forest and Southend United, Walsh has impressed City Manager Sam Cox whilst on trial over the last few weeks and will now add to the attacking options available in Vanarama National League North.

After signing terms with City, Walsh said: “I’m so happy to get the deal done.

“I appreciate the opportunity that Coxy [Sam Cox] and the team have given me, they made me feel welcome as soon as I came in.

“I’m really looking forward to learning and improving under the coaching team here.

“I’m a winger, I like to attack, I like to create, I like to entertain but most importantly I’m here to win and get results for the team.”

Oxford City Manager Sam Cox added: “Louis has been on trial with us through pre-season and has shown a great attitude.

“We know that the career he’s had probably hasn’t reached the heights that people expected when he was coming through as a young player at Nottingham Forest.

“However, that can happen to a young player and now Louis has an opportunity to show what he’s all about and be part of the squad and push for games.

“He’s got a fantastic opportunity to step up in division and get back to where he wants to be. We’re delighted to have him on board.”

From Aylesbury, Walsh came through the ranks in South Yorkshire with Barnsley. Renowned for his pace and trickery, he earned himself a move away from Oakwell in 2019 to join Nottingham Forest.

After leaving the City Ground, Southend United won the race for his signature and he spent the next two years at Roots Hall. In 2022 he was on the move again, as he joined National League side Barnet.

Whilst with the Bees, he had loan spells with Beaconsfield Town and Banbury United, before he joined National League South side Slough Town.

Funnily enough, Walsh made his Slough debut against Oxford City, coming off the bench on New Year’s Day in 2023 in a 2-2 draw at Arbour Park.

Sandwiched between brief loan spells with Thame United and Risborough Rangers, Walsh made twelve appearances for the Rebels in National League South.

Last season, after a tumultuous period of his career, Walsh found a home at Bedford Town and once again he started to excel. He scored seven times in 24 appearances for the club before moving to AFC Dunstable in March.

With that form came an invite to trial at Court Place Farm this summer, and Walsh grasped the opportunity with both hands, earning him a place back at step 2 of non-league.

Welcome to Oxford City, Louis!
