Gaffer's rallying cry to supporter's ahead of home opener.

Oxford City Manager Sam Cox has said that he’s ‘buzzing’ for the Hoops’ first home match of the Vanarama National League North season.

City welcome ex-Football League side Darlington to Court Place Farm on Saturday, but Cox’s side will have to be at their best to get anything out of the game.

Darlington lost a tough opening day clash with Kidderminster Harriers 2-1, and now the Quakers will be looking to bounce straight back on Saturday.

City on the other hand rewarded their loyal supporters that made the journey to Marine with a 90+3rd minute equaliser from Brad Stretton.

Now, Cox has called for everyone to get behind the team on Saturday and has said that with the fans’ support, the team can achieve great things.

“I’m buzzing for it.” Cox said.

“I feel like the first home game has been a long time coming.

“It’s going to be a fantastic occasion for us and for me personally, as the first game at home is always special.

“We just want everyone behind us and hopefully we can put a performance in that warrants that support.

“The support at Marine was fantastic and to score the last minute equaliser down at that end where our fans were was great.

“We know Darlington and that they like to play football. Traditionally they’ve been a really good Football League club and they’re going to do everything they can to rectify the result they had on Saturday.

“They’ll be hard to break down and we’ll have to do everything that we can to try and affect their game plan and hopefully we’ll be able to do so.

“Now we need to go again and get as many people here as we can to make this place a fortress for us.

“Support is welcome from everyone and I want to make this place a special place this year. Together we can achieve something special.”
