Oxford City Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Brad Stretton.
The Coventry City academy graduate joins the Hoops after leaving the Ricoh Arena in the summer after spending 12 years with his boyhood club.
A versatile attacking midfielder, Stretton has impressed throughout his trial period at Court Place Farm, scoring four goals already in pre-season, most notably a hat-trick against Kings Langley at Court Place Farm.
He now links up with Sam Cox’s team ahead of the 24/25 season and will wear the number 11 shirt.
Speaking to www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk after signing his deal, Brad said: “It’s great to get it finally done now.
“I’m very excited, It’s a fresh start and I’m looking forward to getting my career on track and doing my thing.”
Oxford City Manager Sam Cox added: “I’ve been really impressed with Brad.
“He’s someone we were made aware of, he’s a fantastic young talent and he was in and around Coventry’s first team last season.
“He’s got a fantastic profile, a good technician and a really good person.
“In the games he’s been part of he’s impressed and he’s certainly someone we think we can work with, help improve and develop in his journey.
“He’s a really good signing for us.”
Born in Coventry, Stretton joined Coventry City’s academy aged seven and progressed through the youth ranks at the Ricoh Arena.
He signed a professional terms with Coventry and became a regular in the U18’s & U23’s squads before making it to the periphery of the Sky Blues' first team squad, appearing on the substitutes bench last season in the Sky Bet Championship.
After leaving Coventry in the summer, the Hoops moved quickly to invite Stretton to trial and it didn’t take him long to impress Sam Cox.
A versatile attacking midfielder, Stretton can operate centrally and on both wings. Throughout this pre-season the City supporters have seen how influential he can be in matches already (under the pseudonym Trialist B).
