Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of Freddy Willcox on loan from EFL League Two side Cheltenham Town.
The youngster signed his first professional contract with the Robins at the beginning of the season and made his debut for Cheltenham’s first team after replacing Elliot Bonds during a 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic in League One in the 2022/23 season.
Willcox, 18, spent last season on loan at Southern League Division One South side Evesham United and was an ever-present figure in their midfield.
After signing with City, Freddy told www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk: “It feels really good to be here.
“The lads have been really good and helped me out a lot. I’ve met the manager and I’m looking forward to a lot of games coming up.
“Hopefully we can get some points on the board and hopefully I can contribute to that.”
Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins is delighted to have such a talent in the ranks during this busy period and hopes he can help City as they look to climb the table.
He said: “He’s a great lad with a great attitude and he will boost our squad during this busy period.
“He’s coming into a good environment, and he will definitely offer something different to the squad.”
Freddy joined Cheltenham when he was 11-years-old and worked his way through the academy’s development centre.
He will now get his first taste of life in the National League North and is happy to be joining Jenkins and his squad for the remainder of the season.
Everyone at Oxford City wishes Freddy the very best of luck ahead of his time with the Hoops at the MGroup Stadium.
